Etymology
Deranjează is a form of the verb a deranja, which Romanian borrowed from French déranger during the nineteenth century, when the language absorbed many French words as part of its turn toward Western Romance models. French déranger joins the prefix dé- (undoing) to ranger, meaning to put in order, which itself comes from rang, a row or rank. The French word rang traces back through Frankish to a Germanic root meaning ring or circle.
