Etymology
Deranj is a Romanian noun built from the verb a deranja, meaning to disturb or bother. The verb was borrowed from French déranger, which joins the prefix dé- (undoing, apart) with ranger, to put in a row or in order. Ranger in turn comes from rang, a row or rank, a word French inherited from Old Frankish. So deranj carries the old sense of pulling something out of its proper row.
