Etymology
Informație entered Romanian in the nineteenth century from French information, part of a wave of French borrowings that modernized Romanian vocabulary. French information descends from Latin informatio, informationis, a noun built on the verb informare, meaning to give form to something or to instruct the mind. The Latin root forma, meaning shape or form, has a disputed origin, so no reliable Proto-Indo-European root can be given.
