Etymology
Informat is the past participle of a informa, meaning to inform. Romanian borrowed the verb from French informer, itself from Latin informare, which combined in- (into) with formare (to shape, from forma, shape). The literal sense was to give shape to the mind, which shifted to giving someone knowledge.
