Etymology

Efectua came into Romanian from French effectuer in the nineteenth century, part of a wave of French borrowings that reshaped Romanian's formal and administrative vocabulary. Effectuer itself derives from Latin effectus, the past participle of efficere, meaning to bring about or accomplish. Efficere in turn combines the prefix ex- (out) with facere (to make or do). The word entered Romanian already carrying its formal, procedural tone.
