Etymology
Evolua entered Romanian in the 19th century from French évoluer, part of a wave of French borrowings that modernized Romanian vocabulary. French évoluer traces back to Latin evolvere, meaning to unroll or unfold, built from the prefix e- (out) and volvere (to roll, turn). The sense shifted over time from the literal unrolling of a scroll to the figurative idea of gradual change or development.
