Etymology
Romanian fix comes from French fixe, which in turn comes from Latin fixus, the past participle of figere, meaning to fasten or drive in. The word entered Romanian in the nineteenth century, during the wave of French and Latin borrowings that reshaped much of modern Romanian vocabulary. Romanian kept the original adjectival sense of fixed or unmoving, and also developed a very common adverbial sense of exactly or precisely in everyday speech.
