Etymology
Frumoasă is the feminine form of frumos, which comes from Latin formosus, meaning shapely or beautiful. The word passed into Romanian through normal sound changes, including a shift of the initial syllable and the addition of the feminine adjectival ending. The same Latin root gave related words in other Romance languages.
