Etymology
Judecată comes from Latin iudicata, the feminine past participle of iudicare, "to judge." Iudicare itself joins ius, "law, right," with dicare, "to proclaim," a relative of dicere, "to say." In Romanian the participle turned into a noun on its own, so the word for "judged" became the word for "judgment."
