Etymology
Oră comes from Latin hora, which Latin borrowed from Greek hōra, meaning a season or a fixed point in time. The word passed into Romanian through the same Latin source that gave French heure and Italian ora. Its dual sense, a clock hour and a scheduled class period, already existed in the source languages.
