Etymology

Paradă entered Romanian in the nineteenth century from French parade. The French word came from Italian parata, tied to the verb parare, 'to prepare' or 'to ward off,' which goes back to Latin parare, 'to make ready.' Romanian took the borrowed root and attached its own feminine noun ending, -ă.
