Etymology
"Poț" is not a separate word. It is a casual, spoken spelling of "poți", the second person singular present of "a putea" (to be able to). Romanian speakers often clip the final unstressed "i" in fast speech, and informal writing (texting, chat, dialect transcription) sometimes reflects that by dropping the letter. "A putea" itself descends from Vulgar Latin, ultimately tied to the same root that gave Latin "posse" and "potis".
