Etymology

Romanian took "radar" directly from English in the mid-20th century, along with most other European languages. The English word began as the acronym RADAR, for "radio detection and ranging," coined by the US Navy around 1940. It quickly stopped being read as an acronym and became an ordinary noun, and Romanian borrowed it in that already-fixed form.
