Etymology
Sună comes from the Romanian verb a suna, which descends from Latin sonare, meaning to sound. The core sense of producing or emitting sound survived intact, and Romanian later extended it to phone calls and to describe impressions, as in 'that sounds good'. The Latin verb itself traces back to the PIE root for sound.
