Etymology
Vizita is the definite form of vizită, a feminine noun Romanian borrowed from French visite in the nineteenth century, during the wave of Romance relatinization of Romanian vocabulary. French visite in turn goes back to Latin visitare, a frequentative of visere, itself related to videre, "to see". The Romanian verb a vizita, "to visit", was borrowed alongside it.
