Etymology
The origin of "zbura" is not settled among Romanian linguists. It does not trace cleanly to a Latin verb, unlike most core Romanian vocabulary. Some scholars think it survives from the pre-Roman substrate spoken in the region before Latin arrived, alongside a small set of other basic words with no clear Latin source. Because the source language remains disputed, no confirmed Indo-European root or foreign cognates can be given.
