Etymology

أَمَّن is the form II (causative) verb from the Semitic root ʔ-m-n, which carries the sense of firmness, safety, and trust. Where the form I verb أَمِنَ means to be safe, the doubled middle radical makes it causative: to make safe, to secure. The same root gives Hebrew אָמַן, to be firm or faithful, and the word amen, which passed into Greek, Latin, and English through Hebrew.
