Word family
أنجبto give birth to, to beget
نجيبnoble, of excellent stock
نجابةnobility of lineage, excellence
منجبfertile, one who has borne children
Etymology
The word comes from the root n-j-b, which in Classical Arabic centers on nobility and excellence of stock. The form IV verb anjaba, literally "to produce noble offspring," broadened over time to mean simply "to beget" or "to give birth to." Injab is the verbal noun of that verb, so it names the act of bearing or producing children rather than the child itself.
