Etymology
إنسانيّ is a nisba adjective, built by adding the relative suffix -iyy to إنسان (insān, 'human being'). Arabic lexicographers usually trace insān to the root ء-ن-س, tied to the idea of sociability and familiarity, since humans are seen as social, approachable beings. As a Semitic language, Arabic has no Indo-European root here; instead it shares this root with sister Semitic languages.
