Etymology
The word comes from the Arabic root kh-r-b (خ ر ب), which in its base sense denotes ruin or desolation. Form II of the verb, kharraba, makes this causative: to deliberately cause ruin. Takhrib is the verbal noun of that causative verb, so it names the act of deliberately wrecking or sabotaging something, rather than the state of being ruined.
