تركيب is the masdar (verbal noun) of the Form II verb رَكَّبَ (rakkaba), meaning to assemble, install, or compose. Both verb and noun come from the triliteral Semitic root ر-ك-ب, whose base sense is riding or mounting one thing onto another. The Form II pattern adds a causative and intensive force, so the root sense of mounting shifts to the meaning of fitting parts together into a whole. Since Arabic is a Semitic language, it has no Proto-Indo-European root.
