Etymology
جال comes from the Semitic triliteral root ج-و-ل, which carries the core idea of circular or repeated motion: going around, roving, patrolling. As a hollow verb, its middle radical waw collapses into a long alif in the perfect tense, giving جال instead of a form like jawala. The root is native to Arabic and is not traced to an Indo-European ancestor.
