Etymology
The word comes from the triliteral root ر-ك-ز, which means to fix or plant something firmly, as in driving a stake into the ground. The Form II verb رَكَّزَ extends this to fixing the mind or gathering things into one place. تَرْكيز is its verbal noun, formed on the standard تَفْعيل pattern, and names the act of concentrating.
