Etymology

Tanẓīm is the verbal noun of the Form II verb naẓẓama, meaning to organize or put in order. It comes from the triliteral Arabic root n-ẓ-m, whose base sense is stringing things together in a neat sequence, as one strings pearls on a thread. From the same root comes niẓām, meaning system or order. Because Arabic is a Semitic language, it has no Indo-European root, so no PIE ancestor applies here.
