Etymology
جَذْب is the verbal noun (masdar) of the Form I verb جَذَبَ, built on the triliteral root ج-ذ-ب, meaning to pull, draw, or tug. Classical dictionaries already record the physical sense of pulling something toward oneself, and modern Arabic extended it to abstract pulling, such as drawing attention, customers, or investment. As a Semitic root rather than an Indo-European one, it has no PIE ancestor.
