Etymology
Ḥaraka comes from the triliteral root ḥ-r-k, which carries the sense of moving. It is the verbal noun of the verb ḥaraka, to move or to stir. From the same root Arabic builds words for engine, mobility, and motion. The word also took on technical senses, naming the short vowel marks in grammar.
