Etymology
رَوْث comes from the triliteral Semitic root ر-و-ث. The related verb رَاثَ, يَرُوثُ means to defecate, but it is used only for animals such as horses, camels, and sheep. Classical Arabic keeps this word separate from terms for human waste, which shows how the language sorts vocabulary by who or what performs the action. There is no Indo-European root behind it, since Arabic is a Semitic language.
