Etymology

عندئذٍ is a native Arabic compound, not a borrowing. It fuses عند ("at, with, near") with إذ ("that time, when"), and adds a genitive tanween ending that gives the whole unit adverbial force. Classical grammarians treat this fusion of a preposition with the time-noun إذ as a standard way to build temporal adverbs, seen also in حينئذٍ and وقتئذٍ. There is no Indo-European root involved.
