Etymology
فَخُور comes from the triliteral root ف-خ-ر (f-kh-r), which carries the sense of boasting and taking pride. It follows the faʿūl pattern, an intensive shape that marks a person who does something often or to excess. A فَخُور is therefore someone full of pride, or quick to boast. The same root gives فَخْر, 'pride,' and فاخِر, 'splendid.'
