Etymology
Mir'ab comes from the Arabic root ra-hamza-ba (ر أ ب), whose verb ra'aba means to mend or patch a crack. The prefix mim turns the root into a noun of place, on the pattern mif'al. So mir'ab literally names the place where mending happens, and in modern Arabic it settled on the sense of a garage, the place where a car gets fixed or kept.
