Etymology
Ενθουσιασμένος is the adjective form of the passive participle of ενθουσιάζομαι, to become excited or enthused. That verb comes from ενθουσιασμός, enthusiasm, which traces back to ancient Greek ένθεος, meaning possessed by a god or divinely inspired, built from εν-, in, and θεός, god. The original sense described a state of divine possession. Over time the word lost its religious weight and now describes ordinary excitement or eagerness.
