ικανόςcapable, sufficientEtymology
Ικανοποιημένος is the passive perfect participle of the verb ικανοποιώ, a compound of ικανός (sufficient, capable) and ποιώ (to make, to do). Together the verb means literally to make sufficient, in practice to satisfy. The suffix -μένος marks a completed passive state, so the participle means having been made satisfied, that is, satisfied. This compound pattern is old and remains fully productive in Modern Greek.
