Etymology
Καβγάς is a loanword from Turkish kavga, meaning fight or quarrel, which entered Greek during the long period of Ottoman rule. Greek simply attached its own masculine nominative ending to the borrowed stem. The same Turkish word spread across the Balkans through the same historical contact, leaving similar forms in neighboring languages. It is not an inherited Indo-European word in Greek, so it has no Greek root of its own.
