Etymology
Μάνατζερ is a direct loan from English "manager", adopted into Greek in the twentieth century along with the vocabulary of modern business, sports, and entertainment. English "manager" comes from the verb "manage", which traces through Italian "maneggiare" (to handle, to train a horse) back to Latin "manus" (hand). Greek kept the English form largely intact, adding only the article and, informally, Greek plural markers.
