Etymology
Μπερδεύω is a relatively late formation in Greek, built on the stem μπερδ- with the productive verb-forming suffix -εύω, the same suffix seen in many loan-derived Greek verbs. Its ultimate origin is disputed among Greek lexicographers, and no single source language is firmly established. Because of this uncertainty, no reliable Indo-European root or foreign cognate set can be given.
