Etymology
Προσέγγιση is a noun formed from the verb προσεγγίζω, which combines the prefix προσ- (toward) with εγγίζω (to come near), itself from the adverb εγγύς (near). The suffix -ση turns the verb into a noun of action or result, so the word literally names the act of drawing near. Modern Greek uses it both concretely, for a ship coming into port, and abstractly, for a way of tackling a problem.
