Etymology
Συνειδητοποιώ is a modern coinage built from the adjective συνειδητός, meaning conscious or aware, plus the verb-forming ending -ποιώ, meaning to make. Συνειδητός in turn comes from συνείδηση, consciousness, which goes back to the ancient verb σύνοιδα: συν- (together, with) joined to οἶδα (I know). Οἶδα descends from the PIE root for seeing and knowing, so the word literally means to make something conscious or known.
