Etymology
Înnebunit is the past participle of a înnebuni, built from the adjective nebun with the verb-forming prefix în- and the participial ending -it. Nebun itself traces to Latin nebulo, nebulonis, a term for a worthless or foggy-minded rascal. Romanian dictionaries derive nebulo from nebula, mist or cloud, on the idea of a mind clouded by fog. The participle then means literally made into a mad person, that is, driven mad.
