Etymology
Acuzare comes from the Romanian verb a acuza, to accuse, itself borrowed from Latin accusare. Latin accusare was built from the prefix ad- (toward) and causa (cause, legal case), so the original sense was to bring a case against someone. The suffix -are, which forms the Romanian infinitive, also produces a matching feminine noun for the action itself.
