Etymology
Adevărat is the adjective built from adevăr, the Romanian word for truth. Adevăr goes back to a Vulgar Latin phrase combining ad, de, and verum, roughly meaning to the true, or according to truth. Verum is the neuter form of the Latin adjective verus, true, which shares a Proto-Indo-European root with English very and German wahr.
