Etymology
Bine descends from Latin bene, the adverb meaning 'well'. Bene itself goes back to an Old Latin form related to duonus, an early variant of bonus, 'good'. Romanian kept the Latin adverb almost unchanged, while the related adjective 'good' split off as a separate word, bun. So bine and bun share the same distant root but now play different grammatical roles.
