Etymology
Capturat is the past participle of the verb a captura, a modern borrowing Romanian took from French capturer during the 19th-century push to re-Latinize its vocabulary. The French verb itself derives from Latin captura, meaning a catching or seizure, built on the verb capere, to take or seize. The same Latin root gave English capture and catch through different paths.
