Etymology
Politicos traces back to Greek politikos, meaning of the citizen or of the city, and by extension well-mannered in public life. The word reached Romanian through the Romance form found in French politique and Italian politico. In Romanian the two old senses split into separate words: politic kept the meaning political, while politicos narrowed to mean polite or courteous.
