Etymology

Romanian borrowed "conform" from French "conforme", which goes back to Latin "conformis", built from "con-" (with, together) and "forma" (shape, form). The Latin adjective meant "having the same shape as, corresponding to". Romanian kept the meaning almost unchanged but pushed the word mainly into an adverbial and prepositional role, as in "conform legii" (according to the law).
