Etymology

Dansez comes from the Romanian verb a dansa, which Romanian borrowed from French danser in the modern period, as part of a wave of French loanwords that entered Romanian in the 18th and 19th centuries. French danser itself traces to Old French dancier, whose deeper origin is debated among linguists. Romanian attached its own verb endings to the French root, so dansez simply marks first person singular present.
