Etymology

Din is a Romanian preposition formed from the fusion of de ("of, from") and în ("in"). Both source words descend from Latin, de and in, which kept their basic meanings across the Romance languages. Romanian fused them into one word early on, giving din its core sense of motion or origin out of an enclosed or bounded thing.
