Etymology
Duzină came into Romanian from French douzaine. Douzaine itself grew out of douze, meaning twelve, which descends from Latin duodecim, a compound of duo (two) and decem (ten). Romanian borrowed the whole word rather than building it from native pieces, then fitted it with the typical feminine noun ending -ă.
