Etymology
Romanian borrowed "episod" from French "épisode" in the nineteenth century, part of a wave of French loanwords that reshaped Romanian vocabulary. The French word traces to Greek "epeisodion", meaning something added in. That Greek word is built from "epi" (upon, in addition) plus "eisodos" (a way in, an entrance), itself "eis" (into) plus "hodos" (way, road). In ancient Greek drama, an "epeisodion" was the part of a play that came in between choral songs, the origin of the modern sense of one installment in a larger story.
