Etymology

Romanian borrowed "flux" from French "flux" in the nineteenth century, during the period when Romanian scholars reshaped the language's vocabulary along Latin and French lines. The French word goes back to Latin "fluxus", the past participle of "fluere", meaning "to flow". The same Latin verb also gave English "fluid" and "fluent".
