Etymology
"Gândi" is a verb built from the Romanian noun "gând" (thought, mind) plus the fourth-conjugation infinitive ending "-i". The origin of "gând" itself is disputed among Romanian etymologists, with some pointing to a Cuman or other Turkic source rather than Latin. Because that root is not securely traced to Proto-Indo-European, no reliable PIE root or cognate set can be given.
